Certified Nursing Assistant - CNA

Golden Palms Rehabilitation and Retirement is a historic Harlingen‑based retirement community, skilled nursing and rehabilitation services facility. We are the only 3‑star facility in Cameron County and welcome the first 25 applicants to join our dedicated team.

Shift: 1 Day and 2 Night available
Full‑time: 6:00 AM–6:00 PM and 6:00 PM–6:00 AM
Licensure: Texas CNA license is required

• Provide compassionate resident care as necessary or as directed by the licensed nurse
• Assist residents in activities of daily living (ADLs) and document in the medical record
• Answer resident call lights promptly
• Check residents routinely to ensure their personal care needs are being met
• Maintain confidentiality of all resident information
• Communicate professionally with residents, families, and staff
• Participate in and receive the nursing report upon reporting for duty
• Follow established policies concerning exposure to blood/body fluids
• Assist residents with dental and mouth care (e.g., brushing teeth/dentures, oral hygiene)
• Assist residents with bath functions (bed bath, tub or shower bath, etc.) as directed
• Give backrubs as instructed
• Assist residents with dressing/undressing as necessary
• Assist residents with hair care functions (comb, brush, shampoo, etc.)
• Assist residents with nail care (clipping, trimming, and cleaning finger/toenails)
• Shave male residents
• Keep hair on female residents clean shaven (facial hair, underarms, legs, etc.) as instructed
• Keep residents dry by changing gowns, clothing, linen, etc., when wet or soiled
• Change bed linens and keep them tight to avoid wrinkles
• Make beds (occupied and unoccupied) and add extra covers as requested
• Position bedridden residents in a comfortable position
• Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions (bathroom, bedpan/urinal, portable commode, etc.)
• Maintain intake and output records as instructed
• Check and report bowel movements and stools as instructed
• Prepare and administer enemas; report results
• Collect specimen samples (urine, sputum, stool, etc.)
• Assist residents before medical tests and procedures (lab work, X‑ray, therapy, dental, etc.)
• Assist residents in preparing for activity and social programs (church, parties, visitors, etc.)
• Assist in transporting residents to/from appointments and programs
• Assist with lifting, turning, and moving residents using proper techniques and equipment
• Assist residents to walk with or without assistive devices as instructed
• Perform restorative and rehabilitative procedures
• Change dressings, bandages, and binders as instructed
• Provide eye and ear care (warm/cold compresses, eye/ear instillation, clean glasses/hearing aids)
• Weigh and measure residents as instructed
• Measure and record temperatures, pulse and respirations (TPRs)
• Answer resident calls promptly and check residents who cannot call
• Ensure residents’ personal care needs are met in accordance with their wishes
• Assist with the care of dying residents
