Account Representative

The Account Representative is responsible for posting all incoming payments to the correct patient accounts daily, inputting and retrieving data from computer systems, and reconciling accounts. Key duties include applying payments accurately, distributing billing to appropriate personnel, reviewing authorizations and referrals, and maintaining knowledge of contracts and fee schedules. The role involves handling hospital mail, recognizing mailing errors, and maintaining tact and discretion when dealing with patients and families.

Additionally, the Account Representative analyzes managed care contract payments to ensure proper reimbursement, works proactively with payers to resolve issues, and ensures compliance with regulations. They also manage underpayments and denials for further revenue collection.

Education, Experience, and Training:

• High School Graduate or GED Equivalent
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines
• Analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills preferred
• Customer service experience preferred
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Experience in accounts payable, receivable, or cashier roles preferred
• Knowledge of billing requirements, insurance, coding, and medical terminology preferred
• Knowledge of medical coding and third-party procedures
• 6 months to 1 year of billing experience preferred

Knowledge of medical and insurance terminology is essential.
