Valley Baptist Medical Center Harlingen is seeking a Board-Certified Pathologist to provide ongoing locum tenens coverage in an inpatient hospital setting. This is an excellent opportunity for a Texas-licensed pathologist looking for stable, long-term coverage with a well-established pathology department.

  • Hospital hours:
    Monday Friday, 8:00 AM 5:00 PM

  • Call coverage after hours, weekends, and holidays

• Call Type: In-house (rare call; 10% callback rate)

• Reason for Coverage: Scheduling need

• Facility: Valley Baptist Medical Center Harlingen

• Trauma Level: II

• Stroke Certified: Yes

• EMR: Cerner

• Supervision: Supervision of 2 APPs required

• Support Staff: 2 APPs, 2 office staff

Candidates must be comfortable with a broad scope of Anatomic and Clinical Pathology, including:

• Surgical Pathology

• GI & GU Pathology

• Gynecologic Pathology (preferred focus)

• Dermatopathology

• Neuropathology

• Hematopathology (bone marrow & lymph nodes)

• Bone marrow aspiration/biopsy & interpretation

• Cytology (GYN & Non-GYN)

• Frozen sections / grossing

• Board Certified in Pathology REQUIRED

• Active Texas medical license REQUIRED

• No ACLS, BLS, ATLS, or PALS required

• Ongoing, stable locum need

• Established pathology department

• Broad but well-defined scope

• Preference for candidates with gynecologic and surgical pathology expertise

• Work with a respected Tenet Healthcare facility
