Overview
The Military Child Education Coalition (MCEC) seeks an Ameri Corps VISTA member to strengthen capacity to serve military-connected students through sustainable fundraising initiatives. This role combines research, systems development, and strategic planning to create lasting impact for military families facing educational challenges. The VISTA member’s work will progress through two key phases over the service year: the first six months focus on research into private, foundation, and public funding opportunities and the development of comprehensive tracking systems;
the second six months focus on creating a reusable fundraising toolkit to support MCEC beyond the VISTA year.
- Phase 1 (first 6 months): conduct extensive research into grant-making opportunities from private, foundation, and public sources; develop a comprehensive database of potential funding sources; build a robust pipeline; create methodologies for sustaining donor relationships; and identify promising local, regional, and national funding opportunities.
- Phase 2 (second 6 months): develop a reusable fundraising toolkit including templates, standard language, impact data, and narratives that can be efficiently adapted for future grant applications; create standard proposal language; compile program data and impact metrics; build a library of grant narratives and templates for common applications.
- Establish sustainable fundraising systems to enhance MCEC’s ability to fund programs supporting military-connected children facing relocations, social-emotional challenges, and educational transitions.
