CT/Radiology Technologist – PRN

Altus Community Healthcare – Express Emergency Center, Harker Heights

Job Summary

The Radiology Technologist will operate radiographic equipment to produce diagnostic radiographs of the body, following protocols set by the ER Physician and Radiologist. The technologist will position patients and the examination table to obtain optimum views, practice radiation safety techniques under the ALARA principle, and operate CT scanner equipment for CT scans. The role also includes administering contrast, consenting patients, completing documentation, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain awareness of departmental and operational policies.
  • Assist with equipment maintenance, cleaning, and QA procedures.
  • Explain benefits and risks of procedures and exams to patients.
  • Prepare patients for examination, including contrast and IV placement.
  • Facilitate departmental operations through completion of contrast, extravasation, pregnancy, and other relevant forms.
  • Maintain safety precautions to minimize radiation exposure.
  • Keep current knowledge of diagnostic radiology/CT procedures and equipment.
  • Apply principles of radiology safety in positioning and imaging.
  • Assist with minor repair and troubleshooting of radiology equipment.
  • Use appropriate body mechanics when moving/lifting patients and equipment.
  • Communicate with personnel regarding concerns or issues.
  • Provide safe transportation of patients to and from patient care units.
Qualifications

Education and Experience:

  • Graduate of an accredited radiologic technology program.
  • At least 1 year of radiologic/imaging experience, including CT experience.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to present information in one‑on‑one and small group settings.
  • Basic arithmetic skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
  • Ability to compute rates, ratios, percentages, and interpret bar graphs.
  • Apply common‑sense understanding to follow written, oral, or diagram instructions.
Certifications & Licensure
  • Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
  • Current state licensure.
  • Current BCLS certification; satisfies Texas (ARRT R CT) and Colorado/Rhode Island requirements.
