This is a high-profile, flagship program — the first of its kind in the U.S. with direct industry backing — training the next generation of utility-scale solar technicians, including transitioning veterans and adult learners.
With real-world labs and cutting-edge equipment, we’re not just teaching solar — we’re redefining how it’s taught. You’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring students graduate ready to work on today’s most advanced solar systems.
What You’ll Teach & Lead This role involves hands-on instruction, mentorship, and training delivery aligned with utility-scale solar maintenance standards, including:
• Sungrow 3600 UUD Inverters
• Sungrow BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems)
• Combiner box maintenance and troubleshooting
• Load break switch inspection and operation
• SCADA systems basics and safety
• Preventative and corrective maintenance workflows
• Lockout/tagout procedures and job site safety
• Site-level communication and field reporting
• Work readiness & site professionalism (PPE, documentation, site protocols)
Ideal Background
• 3+ years of hands-on experience in utility-scale solar O&M (Solar Maintenance, Field Service, or Commissioning)
• Experience with Sungrow equipment (inverters, BESS) strongly preferred
• Proficiency with load break switches, combiner boxes, and basic SCADA interfaces
• Previous training, mentorship, or instructional experience is highly desirable
• Strong safety mindset and understanding of OSHA/NEC/lockout-tagout procedures
• Familiarity with veteran learners or diverse adult education environments a plus
• Comfortable delivering hands-on instruction in a lab-based environment
Responsibilities
• Deliver engaging, practical instruction for solar maintenance technician students in a 15-week cohort format
• Lead classroom training, hands-on labs, simulations, and assessments
• Maintain equipment and coordinate real-world demonstrations
• Develop and refine lesson plans (with support from Sungrow & Leeward)
• Assess student progress and provide actionable feedback
• Support students with job readiness and transition to employment
• Stay current with industry standards, trends, and safety codes
Why Join Us The Training Center of Central Texas is on the national stage — as one of the first utility- scale solar technician trade programs in the U.S. Our graduates are already being hired by top-tier solar firms, and this program is backed by over $500,000 in donated equipment and real-world systems. This role is an opportunity to lead from the front — building the future of solar training while mentoring and launching the next generation of professionals.
Bonus Qualifications
• Sungrow certification (3600, Titan, or 4400)
• OSHA 30, NFPA 70E, or other safety credentials
• Prior experience training veterans or working in workforce development
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) helpful but not required
