Overview
Mechanic Technician – New Orleans, LA. Flexicrew Technical Services (FTS) is seeking a hands-on, entry-level Mechanical Technician to support the assembly, maintenance, and service of advanced mechanical and electro-hydraulic systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the quality and functionality of complex equipment by interpreting technical documents, conducting mechanical builds, and troubleshooting systems. The technician will contribute to a high-performing team by performing precision work, maintaining equipment, and supporting continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities- Interpret technical documents such as engineering drawings, material lists, and product specifications.
- Assemble and test mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components, including valves, manifolds, control panels, cabling, and tubing.
- Conduct system integration and troubleshooting for hydraulic and electromechanical assemblies.
- Perform general fabrication tasks, such as cutting, grinding, and basic welding, as necessary.
- Record all work activities, inspections, and test results accurately.
- Fabricate and route high-pressure tubing and piping assemblies using proper tools and fittings.
- Monitor installed equipment to identify issues and perform necessary repairs or adjustments.
- Conduct maintenance and repairs on mechanical systems, including motors, fans, pumps, and HVAC equipment.
- Dismantle, inspect, and repair components using hand and power tools.
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability.
- Provide informal mentoring and technical support to junior technicians when needed.
- Review and inspect work done by peers to ensure compliance with company standards.
- Uphold quality assurance practices in alignment with ISO 9001 standards and company protocols.
- Participate in safety programs and follow all PPE and hazard control guidelines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- 0–2 years of experience in mechanical or technical roles (education can be considered toward experience).
- Prior exposure to ISO 9001 environments is a plus.
- Fundamental understanding of hydraulic, mechanical, and basic electrical systems.
- Proficient with hand tools, diagnostic tools, and assembly equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret system schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Regularly required to lift up to 25 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
- Must pass drug screening and comply with PPE and safety protocols.
- Visual acuity for detailed inspection and assembly work.
- Must be able to work varying shifts and flexible schedules.
- Exposure to environmental conditions such as noise, humidity, chemicals, and mechanical hazards is frequent.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Trade school training or technical certification (2 years preferred).
- Willingness to study and pursue IFPS Hydraulic Mechanic Certification.
