Position Summary
Service Engineer Level 3, Engines is a senior technical service leader responsible for performing and leading maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities in the field and in-house. This role requires a high degree of technical mastery, precision, and independent problem-solving while working within established processes and standards. This position is ideal for a technical expert who values structured work, takes pride in exactness, and applies deep analytical thinking to diagnose and resolve complex engine and system-level issues.
The Service Engineer Level 3 is trusted to execute critical service work, guide others, and uphold MSHS Pacific Power Group standards in every customer interaction.
- Perform in-house and field service work including installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, testing, and maintenance of MSHS-supported engine systems
- Independently diagnose mechanical and electrical failures at both component and system levels
- Read and interpret complex electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics
- Install and commission standard controls, actuation, and small systems
- Provide advanced fault-finding support and technical guidance to customers, both on-site and remotely
- Deliver product-level training and technical instruction to customers and internal teams
- Support TAG activities by identifying and recommending appropriate products and solutions
- Develop and interpret control system diagrams
- Lead system testing efforts and provide high-level in-house technical support
- Train and mentor junior field service engineers in site work, diagnostics, and best practices
- Execute all work to company standards, procedures, and safety expectations
- 4–6 years of hands-on experience in a relevant service engineering or field service role
- Recognized electrical or mechanical certification from a Trade School or Military Training Institution
- Strong expertise in engine systems, controls, and diagnostics
- Demonstrated ability to perform advanced electrical and mechanical fault finding
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy, and procedural compliance
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to independently evaluate data and determine solutions
- Proven ability to work independently, manage shifting priorities, and respond effectively to field conditions
- Clear, factual, and direct communication style with internal teams and customers
- Ability to travel to customer and job sites up to 75%, primarily within the U.S., with potential international travel
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline (preferred)
- Experience training or mentoring junior engineers or technicians
- Familiarity with commissioning processes, system testing, and technical documentation
- Prior experience supporting marine, industrial, or power generation engine systems
This role combines structured, methodical technical work with the demands of field service. Assignments require precision, stamina, and the ability to maintain focus despite frequent interactions, changing conditions, and travel demands. Engineers in this role are trusted to manage complex tasks with minimal supervision while maintaining consistency and quality in execution.

Salary: $40.00 - $43.00 per hour (DOE)
