Position Title: Communications Officer/Dispatcher

Salary Range: $27.96 - $29.02 per hour
Employment Category: Regular Full Time, Non‑Exempt
Schedule: Evening and weekend work required; 40 hours per week, 12 months per year
Position PurposeTo monitor a wide range of emergency alarm and security monitoring devices and systems, responding in a timely manner to ensure the safety and security of College students, faculty and staff and physical facilities.
Key Accountabilities- Monitors intrusion alarms, access control, life safety systems, surveillance, and responds in a timely manner.
- Interviews callers/visitors, obtains relevant information and dispatches officers or guards to campus locations.
- Maintains the central communication log and ad‑hoc records, updates databases, prepares reports as required.
- Serves as point of contact for internal/external community on safety and security matters, especially during after‑hours and weekends.
- Assists in emergency situations with professional conduct and care for community members.
- Supports calendar, visitor services, lost and found, gun room security, special events and other duties per Director’s authorization.
- High School diploma or equivalent; 1‑2 years of relevant experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of computer software, electronic/radio operations, safety and security regulations and policies.
- Commitment to diversity and serving a diverse population.
- Driving not required but preferred.
- Preferred:
Experience in dispatch, security operations or emergency response.
- Management of Aggressive Behavior
- Sexual Assault Prevention
- CPR, Defibrillator, First Aid
