Location:
Hanover, NH 03755. Remote eligibility:
Hybrid. Full‑time, 40 hours per week. 12 scheduled months per year.
In partnership with the Chief Advancement Officer and informed by Tuck’s strategic priorities, the Senior Director of Annual Giving provides strategic and operational leadership for Tuck’s best‑in‑class annual giving program, ensuring ambitious financial and participation goals are achieved each fiscal year. The Senior Director fosters a long‑term culture of philanthropy by appealing to a broad swath of alumni, students, and friends across their different stages of life.
Responsibilities- Develop and implement comprehensive annual giving strategies designed to meet and exceed annual revenue and participation goals. Create innovative campaigns that use targeted segmentation and multi‑channel communications to enhance donor solicitation, retention, and acquisition. Establish performance metrics for annual giving and use data‑driven insights to evaluate progress and adjust strategies to meet fundraising targets. Collaborate closely with the Chief Advancement Officer, Dean, and leadership gift officers to close top‑tier annual gifts in a dual‑ask culture, utilizing reunions and volunteers.
- Lead, coach, and inspire a team of annual giving professionals to achieve ambitious fundraising results and ensure participation goals are met or exceeded. Provide guidance and support in cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding annual fund prospects and donors, including the student class gift. Serve as an expert on the various ways to make annual fund gifts—including stock, wire, IRA distribution, DAFs, and online gifts.
Ensure strong collaboration with Advancement Operations, Communications, and Alumni Engagement to deliver a cohesive donor experience. - Cultivate and solicit a select portfolio of leadership‑level annual donors, in collaboration with major gift officers. Oversee annual fund volunteer programs, including class agents, reunion committees, and the Tuck Annual Giving Executive Committee. Engage alumni leaders, class officers, and volunteers to expand the base of annual fund supporters. Partner with Advancement Communications to craft messages that convey the impact of giving and inspire participation.
- Partner with institutional leadership, advancement colleagues at Tuck and Dartmouth, and key stakeholders to achieve fundraising goals, build capacity, and create a unified vision for annual giving. Champion innovation in fundraising methods, volunteer engagement, and stewardship. Represent Tuck at Dartmouth and peer Advancement meetings, sharing best practices and trends.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions, and communications with others.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 10 or more years of progressive experience in annual giving or development leadership in non‑profits.
- Proven record of meeting or exceeding fundraising and participation goals.
- Strong strategic planning, analytical, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated experience and skill leading and developing a team of successful fundraising professionals.
- Deep knowledge of fundraising, culminating gifts, marketing communications, and higher education administration.
- Able to anticipate, deliver on, and exceed the expectations of alumni, alumni class officers, volunteers, colleagues, supervises, and other constituents.
- Able to introduce and drive innovation in ways both small and large.
- Able to collaborate with others as a primary means to achieve results.
- Able to seek out and create learning opportunities, including those revealed by setbacks, failures, and successes.
- Willingness to travel as required.
- Experience in a business school or professional school environment desirable.
