Schedule:
40 hours per week, 12 months per year, onsite only.
The Project Manager is responsible for the successful delivery of assigned capital projects, ranging from $25,000 to $3M, including minor renovations, faculty/staff relocations, and capital renewal of building infrastructure.
DescriptionThe role requires the facilitation and management of projects through all phases: planning, design, cost estimating, procurement, budget control, permitting, construction, scheduling, reporting, turnover, closeout, and problem solving. The Project Manager leads multiple projects simultaneously, collaborates with college divisions, outside vendors, contractors, and municipal agencies, and maintains a strong customer‑service attitude.
Required Qualifications– Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Five years in planning and administering construction projects.
- Bachelor’s degree or technical certification related to construction or project management, or equivalent.
- Ability to work with diverse and at times opposing constituencies.
- Familiarity with design and construction processes, forms, and safety requirements.
- Familiarity with Town, State, and Federal codes and ordinances.
- Proficiency with computerized systems.
- Skills in interpreting architectural and construction contracts.
- Field experience on construction sites.
- Ability to negotiate and resolve confrontational issues.
- Manage full execution process for small‑scale facilities projects.
- Conduct meetings with customers, stakeholders, FO&M staff, and contractors to coordinate and schedule work.
- Keep stakeholders well‑informed of project status, communicate issues, and enable resolution.
- Develop project schedules, phasing plans, and construction safety awareness.
- Manage design team selection, RFQs/RFPs, and review design documents.
- Guide design efforts to ensure adherence to Dartmouth Design and Construction Guidelines.
- Oversee procurement, bidding, and construction processes; ensure timely delivery and quality control.
- Provide budget updates, review change orders, and monitor project cost control.
- Negotiate change proposals, resolve stakeholder disputes, and maintain construction safety policies.
- Coordinate with Jurisdictional Authorities for permits, inspections, and occupancy certificates.
- Address sustainability and energy efficiency principles.
