Occupational Safety Specialist
Location: Hanover, NH |

Schedule: 40 hours per week, 12 months per year
Under the guidance of the Associate Director, EHS, this position plans, develops, and manages OSHA occupational and construction compliance programs. It evaluates work environments, designs preventive programs, and promotes a proactive occupational safety culture.
Key Responsibilities- Identify, design, and administer compliance programs to meet OSHA, NFPA, and NH regulatory agency requirements.
- Coordinate with stakeholders to provide guidance on OSHA occupational and construction program policies, training, and inspections.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement and recommend corrective actions.
- Identify and recommend measures regarding microbial growth in campus buildings.
- In coordination with Residential Operations, identify and manage hazardous building materials.
- Assist Facilities Operations and Maintenance in creating and reviewing Job Hazard Analyses.
- Develop and deliver safety training and maintain training records.
- Participate in internal safety committees and task forces.
- Foster a culture of inclusion and belonging aligned with campus-wide initiatives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in the natural or physical sciences, occupational safety, or related field.
- Two to five years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Completion of OSHA General Safety 10‑hour training and/or OSHA Construction 30‑hour training, or ability to obtain within one year.
- Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state occupational regulations, professional standards, and best practices in EHS.
- Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver safety training.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify as an Approved Driver under the Dartmouth College Driver Safety and Motor Vehicle Policy.
- Professional certification in an EHS discipline.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials as they affect construction and life & fire safety.
- Well organized with the ability to follow direction independently.
Driving a vehicle (Dartmouth vehicle, off‑road vehicle, rental car, or personal car) is an essential function of this job.
