The Calais School is a state-approved, private special education school in North Jersey providing students with innovative academic and behavioral strategies in grades K through 12 Plus with multiple learning disabilities as well as anxiety, mood, behavior and autism spectrum disorders.

We have an outstanding opportunity for a School Social Worker to work with our elementary school students, supporting their social, emotional, and behavioral growth within a collaborative, student-centered environment.
Responsibilities:- Assess the needs of students.
- Determines and implements appropriate therapeutic strategies to effect changes in behavioral social interactions of students.
- Provides individual and group therapeutic counseling to students.
- Serves as a liaison between families and the school to positively promote collaborative processes in educational and/or career planning for students.
- Collaborates with school staff and other school system personnel in implementing strategies to promote student learning and transition.
- Provides staff consultation on behavioral-emotional-environmental issues affecting student participation in the learning/transition process.
- Conducts staff development on issues related to social-emotional-environmental factors that impact learning and transition.
- Maintains required clinical records and submits appropriate documents for reports.
- 3-5 years of experience working with special needs students.
- Must possess NJ School Social Worker Certification
- Must possess LCSW or LPC.
- Effective problem-solving, human relations and communication skills. Must be a team-oriented player.
