Position Overview

The Workforce Development and Educational Coordinator leads strategic efforts to build and sustain a strong healthcare workforce for the organization and surrounding rural communities. This role collaborates closely with local economic development councils, local school districts, and other educational and workforce partners to recruit talent and develop long-term pipelines into healthcare careers. The Coordinator designs and supports programs, partnerships, and initiatives that address immediate staffing needs while cultivating future healthcare professionals from within the local population.

By aligning internal and external stakeholders, this position plays a vital role in ensuring that the hospital is equipped with a capable, community-connected workforce to meet current and future care demands. Works in conjunction with Human Resources recruitment team to ensure collaborative networking and communication.

Responsibilities

Coordinates the administrative processes for onboarding and matriculating all Medical Students and other professionals such as visiting observers and interns. Will be expected to relate well with colleagues at multiple medical schools and to optimize the best practices for onboarding and matriculating and managing medical student experiences.

Will be expected to represent HRHS Pipeline Development and Medical Education to develop and grow the talent pipeline for healthcare professions. Provides support for smooth daily operations for medical students and visiting professionals plus internal stakeholders. Represents the Medical Education Team to internal and external stakeholders well, responsibly and professionally at all times. Must demonstrate a willingness and enthusiasm for new endeavors and career development of others.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree required;
    Business Administration, Human Resources, Education, Healthcare, Administration, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience as an administrative assistant or administrative program coordinator preferred with experience in education or healthcare-related fields.
  • 2 years of experience in education or healthcare-related fields, workforce development, healthcare recruitment/retention, human resources, career services or related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to organize information.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office & Adobe and/or smaller data management applications with emphasis on spreadsheet analysis and development; ability to use virtual meeting platforms and internet-based research tools.
  • Experienced (or ability to learn) training environment, student/medical school websites, learning management systems and evaluation systems.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Position requires ability to establish and develop relationships at all levels, internal and external to the organization, following direction from the Medical Education Team and its leadership and management.
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities or assignments and adhere to stringent deadlines, completing the work with excellence in advance of deadlines.
  • Ability to be a team-player in the context of education and its complex operations, including accepting roles, responsibilities, duties from the leadership and management within Undergraduate Medical Education.
  • Ability to work independently and use independent judgement when required to complete projects ahead of deadlines and to seek insightfully the assistance required to work with stakeholders (following the organizational and Team hierarchy for management/leadership).
  • Must have excellent office-based skills, exceptional writing ability, organizational and communication skills, public speaking, and interpersonal skills to engage with internal staff, educational partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Must also have a working knowledge of all office machinery including computers, printers, fax, copy equipment, and audio-visual equipment used in presentations.
  • Demonstrated experience working with community colleges, workforce boards, or economic development organizations is highly desirable.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative partnerships across sectors.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a passion for growing the local healthcare workforce and strengthening rural health systems.
  • Experience or training in career counseling, academic advising, or workforce pipeline development is preferred.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of customer service, confidentiality, and professionalism in all interactions.
