GM and Food (General Merchandise, Closing, Fulfillment, Inbound, Food and Beverage) (T1906) role s description outlines responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for a General Merchandise Expert.

Responsibilities
  • Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you complete daily tasks and engage with guests to solve their needs.
  • Assist guests and thank them for shopping at Target.
  • Receive products, restock shelves, organize the backroom, arrange merchandise, and put up promotional signs for GM areas.
  • Operate power equipment certified to move merchandise or store fixtures when required.
  • Process changes to prices, merchandise setup and maintenance, and maintain inventory accuracy as directed.
  • Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
  • Be knowledgeable about total store resources, products, and services relevant to your area to resolve guest issues and improve their experience.
  • Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely and report hazards.
  • Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking/packing orders, delivering pickup orders) while adhering to policies including applicable alcohol laws.
  • Perform all other duties based on business needs.

  • Training will teach you what you need to know to be a General Merchandise Expert, but you should have:
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
  • Ability to communicate using handheld scanners and technology as directed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes.
  • Ability to stay focused and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Physical and Schedule Requirements
  • Ability to handle cash operations as needed.
  • Ability to climb ladders and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds without assistance.
  • Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions and stay mobile during shifts.
Additional Information

Starting hourly rate: $18.25 per hour.
