Overview
GM and Food (General Merchandise, Closing, Fulfillment, Inbound, Food and Beverage) (T1906) role s description outlines responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for a General Merchandise Expert.
Responsibilities- Create a welcoming experience by greeting guests as you complete daily tasks and engage with guests to solve their needs.
- Assist guests and thank them for shopping at Target.
- Receive products, restock shelves, organize the backroom, arrange merchandise, and put up promotional signs for GM areas.
- Operate power equipment certified to move merchandise or store fixtures when required.
- Process changes to prices, merchandise setup and maintenance, and maintain inventory accuracy as directed.
- Learn how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
- Be knowledgeable about total store resources, products, and services relevant to your area to resolve guest issues and improve their experience.
- Demonstrate ethical conduct, safety, and compliance; work safely and report hazards.
- Support guest services such as back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes (e.g., picking/packing orders, delivering pickup orders) while adhering to policies including applicable alcohol laws.
- Perform all other duties based on business needs.
- You enjoy interacting with guests and fellow team members.
- You thrive in a fast-moving, active environment with teamwork and problem solving.
- You are open to a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and peak times.
- Training will teach you what you need to know to be a General Merchandise Expert, but you should have:
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members.
- Ability to communicate using handheld scanners and technology as directed.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to resolve guest questions quickly on the spot.
- Attention to detail and ability to follow multi-step processes.
- Ability to stay focused and complete multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to handle cash operations as needed.
- Ability to climb ladders and move merchandise safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds without assistance.
- Flexible schedule (nights, weekends, holidays) with reliable attendance.
- Ability to work in varying temperatures and conditions and stay mobile during shifts.
Starting hourly rate: $18.25 per hour.
