Job SummaryOrganizes and facilitates patient care in the Operating Room (OR), coordinating overall care between surgeon, anesthesiologist, and OR staff. Functions as a first assistant during surgical incision, excision, and repair across perioperative procedures. Participates in preoperative assessment and planning with the healthcare team, demonstrating expertise in medication, treatment, and patient care standards.

- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN):
Preferred - Two years' perioperative nursing experience:

- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of practice:
Required - Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification in the state of practice:
Required - Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) certification in the state of practice:
Preferred - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification:
Required - Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification:
Required - Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Status (PEARS) / Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification:
Preferred - Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) membership:

Department Specific License/Certifications
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) or Healthstream ACLS or RQI ACLS:
Required
- Perform circulating and scrubbing duties; confirm surgical site, blood counts, and assist with suturing and instrumentation.
- Assist with patient transfer, positioning, prepping, and draping; maintain aseptic technique.
- Inspect sterile items, maintain sterility, prepare instruments, and support surgeon's needs with minimal supervision.
- Document nursing diagnoses, plans of care, interventions and responses; mentor and educate staff.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
