EDUCATIONAL
QUALIFICATIONS:
- State of Michigan Teacher Certification
- DX or DI Endorsement
- Must be qualified to teach Chemistry, Phys. Science & Biology
- Develops lesson plans and instructional material and provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student.
- Translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
- Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an effective learning atmosphere in the classroom.
- Evaluates students’ academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records, and prepares report cards and other necessary documentation to report student growth and achievement.
- Maintains student classroom records using current district technology and expectations.
- Communicates regularly with parents through conferences and other means to discuss curriculum, assessments, and student progress.
- Identifies student needs and collaborates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students address social, emotional and academic issues.
- Administers standardized and local assessments.
- Provides a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility, enhance motivation, clearly communicate classroom routines, and incorporate challenging instructional strategies.
- Participates in school improvement initiatives at the school level, committees and collaborative learning teams.
- Plans, organizes and provides instruction in Science in the Core Curriculum Standards, and Next Generation Science Standards. Instruction must be consistent and coordinated with the district’s instructional program so that students meet and exceed learning targets and the requirements outlined in the state and federal law.
- Develops and delivers lesson plans utilizing a broad range of appropriate differentiated techniques and strategies addressing all aspects of communication that develop each student’s Science skills at levels that ensure learners meet or exceed learning targets, and allow English learners to meaningfully access the district's instructional program.
- Administers academic and language assessments for the purpose of evaluating students’ progress in meeting academic learning targets and progress in Science. Maintains complete and accurate records of student's progress and evidence of growth and progress.
- Serves as a colleague in Professional Learning Communities (PLC).
- Performs other duties as assigned.
