What You’ll DoAs a Support Services Aide, you’ll support full-service delivery teams by providing direct customer service and case management assistance. This role combines customer interaction, case processing, and community outreach to ensure residents receive the support they need.
Typical Responsibilities- Process energy assistance and child care cases, including interviewing applicants and determining eligibility
- Assist clients with completing applications and verifying documentation
- Maintain an active caseload and conduct eligibility re‑determinations
- Provide referrals, answer questions, and respond to emergency calls
- Conduct home visits to assess client needs and connect them with community resources
- Enter and manage case data in computerized systems
- Monitor Adult Services Unit payments and documentation
- Assign screenings and adult protective services cases
- Provide guidance and technical support to the support staff
- Graduation from high school or successful completion of a GED and two years college‑level coursework in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- Three (3) years in providing direct customer service is preferred.
- Requires a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record according to the City of Hampton criteria.
- Must successfully pass a background check related to this position prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
- Extensive contact with the general public, related agencies, community organizations, agency staff and other City departments.
- The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
