This position provides repair and maintenance to HVAC equipment and associated motors and controls—including fan coil units, variable‑air‑volume units, pumps, valves, actuators, and specialized controls. The technician operates energy‑management systems (Tridium) and assists in the diagnosis and repair of large mechanical systems such as chillers and boilers.
Responsibilities- Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on HVAC equipment and related components.
- Operate and maintain energy‑management systems and building automation controls.
- Assist in diagnosing and repairing large mechanical systems (chillers, boilers).
- Make adjustments to thermostats, gauges, valves, motors, and other devices to keep equipment in proper working order.
- Document all service records accurately.
- Adhere to all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment.
- Be on‑call on a rotational basis.
- Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of methods, practices, materials, 欧 equipment used in air‑conditioning and refrigeration maintenance.
- Ability to adjust thermostats, gauges, valves, motors, and other devices and document service records.
- Good oral and written communication skills. < gewone Ability to be on‑call on a rotational basis.
- Compliance with all safety policies and PPE use.
- Level I
Education Required: - High‑school graduate or equivalent education.
Qt Props. - Valid driver’s license.
- Experience in mechanical repair.
- Level II
Education Required: - Ore High‑school graduate or equivalent education.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Universal EPA License.
- Journeyman HVAC license or ability to acquire within 24 months of start date.
- Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification.
- Level II Experience
Required: - Experience in HVAC trade at the journeyman level.
- Level I Education Preferred: Universal EPA License.
- Level I Experience Preferred:
- Experience in mechanical repair related to HVAC systems.
- Experience working on a college or university campus.

- Master HVAC License.
- Level II Experience Preferred:
- Experience with energy‑management/building automation systems.
- Experience working on a college or university campus.
Level II Education Preferred:
Salary commensurate with education and experience:
Level I – Minimum $36,552
Level II – Minimum $50,285

- This position can have multiple levels and varies depending on education and experience. All levels of experience will be considered.
- New and returning classified employees are required to complete a 12‑month probationary period.
- Selected candidates must attend a 2‑day New Employee Orientation Program.
- Ability to be on‑call on a rotational basis.
This position is eligible urma periodic telework as determined by the department. Eligibility is not guaranteed and is subject to supervisor approval. Employees will be required to sign a Telework Agreement.
