Roller Operator - Paving - Hampton Roads

Operate a self-propelled Roller with either steel drums or solid rubber wheels used for compacting hot mix asphalt.

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, local, state and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Ride on the platform of the machine and move lever, pedals, or throttles to control and guide the machine.
• Perform daily equipment checks (hydraulic fluid level, greasing, oil levels).
• Use hand tools such as hand shovel, wrench, and screwdriver.
• Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

• High School Diploma preferred.

• Previous heavy highway construction experience preferred.
• Knowledge of compacting procedures for different asphalt mixes.

• Stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
• Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to extremes of heat or cold weather.
• Overtime work required.
• Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
