Sentara Health is hiring a Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services for Cardiac, Vascular, & Interventional Radiology at Sentara Care Plex Hospital in Hampton, VA. This is a full‑time, day shift position.
The Supervisor, Nursing and Patient Care Services in a hospital setting plays a key leadership role in the nursing department, supporting the manager in overseeing all patient care activity on their assigned nursing unit(s). They are responsible for ensuring high standards of care, coordinating daily nursing activities, and facilitating communication between medical teams. The Supervisor assists with the training, mentoring, and performance evaluations of clinical staff, manages patient care assignments, helps resolve patient and family concerns, and ensures compliance with hospital policies, protocols, and safety regulations.
Additionally, they assist in staffing decisions, maintain inventory for medical supplies, and ensure that the unit is properly equipped to provide quality care.
The Supervisor also shares 24/7 responsibility to assist the manager for the daily operations of one or more clinical areas. They supervise patient care services staff to ensure patient safety, provide high‑quality outcomes, and offer an exceptional patient/family experience. The Supervisor assists the manager in developing and monitoring the departmental budget, coordinating purchasing and payroll processes, serves as a technical/clinical resource to team members, and performs work assignments as needed to provide appropriate coverage and mentorship.
Responsibilities- Support the manager in overseeing patient care activity on assigned unit(s).
- Coordinate daily nursing activities and ensure compliance with hospital policies and safety regulations.
- Assist in the training, mentoring, and performance evaluations of clinical staff.
- Manage patient care assignments and resolve patient/family concerns.
- Assist in staffing decisions, inventory management, purchasing, and payroll processes.
- Serve as a technical/clinical resource and mentor for team members.
- Participate in budget development and monitoring.
- Perform additional work assignments as needed to ensure coverage.
- BSN (Required)
- RN licensure (Required)
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- 2 years of previous nursing experience (Required)
- 1 year of nursing leadership experience (Required)

Sentara Care Plex Hospital, located in Hampton, VA, is a 224‑bed technologically advanced, acute care facility and Certified Primary Stroke Center. The hospital offers specialized services in heart and vascular, urologic care, advanced diagnostic and surgical capabilities, a hospitalist program, and one of the state’s busiest emergency departments. It also hosts the Orthopedic Hospital at Sentara Care Plex Hospital, the area’s first dedicated orthopedic hospital.
