Asphalt Milling Machine Operator - Hampton Roads

Job Title: Asphalt Milling Machine Operator

Department: Hampton Roads

Reports to: Paving Supervisor

Operate asphalt milling machine to mill asphalt for use in resurfacing highways, roadways, parking lots, etc.

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task.
• Properly manipulate hand or foot levers to control movement of milling machine.
• Guide and direct dump truck(s) while backing up to machine conveyor.
• Position and secure work pieces on machines, using holding devices, measuring instruments, hand tools and hoists.
• Verify alignment of work pieces on machines, using measuring instruments such as rules, gauges, or calipers.
• Observe milling machine operation and adjust controls to ensure conformance with specified tolerances.
• Overtime work is required.
• Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned by supervisor.

• High School Diploma / GED

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Milling Machine Operator preferred.

• Effective communication and organization skills.
• Strong commitment to safety and the ability to work safely in various conditions.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.

• Job requires the following motions: climbing, bending, squatting, pushing, pulling, vibrating, and reaching.
• Requires lifting up to 50lbs.
• Overtime work is required.
• Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather.
