Description
Hampton University is currently seeking an experienced and qualified Facilities Project Manager for Hampton University's Physical Plant Department.

The Physical Plant Facilities Project Manager is responsible for managing capital planning, project planning and programming, design, construction for capital and non-capital projects from project initiation through completion.

Examples of Duties
  • Determine and define scope of work and deliverables for construction projects up to $ 30 million
  • Predict resources needed to complete projects
  • Draft and submit budget based on scope of work and resources requirements
  • Manage costs to meet budget and update financial dashboards
  • Provides leadership and works closely with the project team to manage construction phase activities of assigned projects large and small.
  • Coordination with academic departments on space utilization and scheduling during projects
  • Manage construction schedule and activities and reports to the Contract Oversight Committee
  • Issue progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines
  • Manage Space Utilization and Small Building projects processes
  • Manage Contractor performance oversight and relationships
  • Promptly address contractor performance issues if performance does not meet contractual obligations
  • Manage value engineering process of assigned projects
  • Recommend strategies to mitigate possible budget shortfalls and/or schedule overruns
  • Other duties assigned
Typical Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Building Construction, Engineering, Architecture
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Project management certification
  • 7-10 years of experience in project management within construction industry
Supplemental Information
  • Must be able to work weekends
  • Must be able to physically lift 20lbs.
