Overview

The successful candidate will join the Resource Integration Office team to support the Center Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering Contract (CMOE) located at NASA’s Langley Research Center (LaRC). This position reports directly to the Integrated Services Center Manager.

This position serves as the principal contact for all facility related matters, safety and environmental concerns including chemical tracking. These include, but are not limited to, maintenance, procedures, inspections, and annual training concerning the facility infrastructure as well as electrical or mechanical machinery installed into the facility. This role may support a single building or several buildings.

Responsibilities
  • Provide daily oversight for facility operations, safety, environmental concerns, and chemical tracking.
  • Coordinate maintenance, procedures, inspections, and annual training related to facility infrastructure, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Communicate and coordinate all required work with building occupants and interested parties to avoid disruptions to operations.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs and inspections to ensure facility and equipment are functioning properly for intended use.
  • Maintain a library of, and draft as appropriate, alarm response procedures for facility equipment.
  • Read and interpret blueprints and working drawings; serve as an approval source for changes to drawings; coordinate discrepancies and equipment failures with responsible parties for repair or adjustment.
  • Maintain electrical Lockout/Tagout procedures, logs, and related facility documentation (Facility Resume).
  • Serve as the principal contact for facility safety matters and oversee safe conduct of maintenance activities and safety training; ensure compliance with applicable customer safety requirements.
  • Interface with building occupants and customer organizational management; provide a customer-friendly, timely, and efficient response to issues.
  • Provide the customer organization with weekly reports on outstanding facility concerns and project/status updates related to maintenance and repairs.
Qualifications
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Two (2) years of college with courses in engineering or related disciplines and six (6) years of related experience; additional relevant education may be substituted for experience.
  • Position requires comprehensive knowledge gained through long and varied work experience in the field of specialty.
  • Current U.S. Driver’s License (REAL ).
  • Knowledge of MAXIMO or other CMMS; research ability using the Internet, manufacturer, and other sources are desired.
  • Ability to develop and manipulate MS Excel spreadsheets or equivalent; MS Project experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with or managing electrical and mechanical systems and HVAC knowledge preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication with the ability to use visual aids; comfort using computing technology for problem analysis and solution.

  • Industrial Shop Environment (50%) with potential exposure to high noise levels, hazardous propellants, explosives, chemicals, and industrial facilities; travel between facilities/test operations is required (35%), and exposure to hazardous equipment operation (15%).
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist, and sit for extended periods; able to climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs. May involve working at elevated heights and in confined spaces; PPE and training provided.

Attendance and Travel
  • Regular attendance mandatory (100%).
  • Occasional overtime/work outside normal schedule; respond on provided cell phone during and after hours and on weekends to emergency notifications and equipment issues (
