Patient Care Tech, Intermediate Care Unit/Stepdown
Overview
Sentara Careplex is hiring a Patient Care Tech (PCT) for Intermediate Care Unit, Stepdown.
Work ScheduleFull‑time, 36 weekly hours, nights 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM.
Responsibilities- Provide patient care under direct supervision of a professional nurse.
- Support admissions and discharge processes.
- Observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and report changes.
- Comply with patient safety practices.
HS‑High School Grad or Equivalent. One of the following programs is acceptable:
Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, certified nursing assistant (CNA), national certified medical assistant (NCMA), national patient care technician (NCPCT), US Navy Hospital Corps School, emergency services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT, paramedic, or current clinical program student with at least one semester completed in a RN, LPN, RT, or PT program or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or nursing assistant.
/ Licensure
- AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
One year of health care experience preferred.
Department OverviewThis 24‑bed unit cares for patients with a variety of healthcare needs, including stroke, respiratory compromise, and chronic long‑term vents. Patients with DKA, CHF, pneumonia, and more are treated here.
