We are actively recruiting a Licensed Mental Health Counselor to support our Nation’s Special Operation Forces and their families, through the Preservation of the Force and Family (POTFF) program. In this role we are looking for a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) to work within a unit, on-site, as a Mental Health Counselor.
Responsibilities- Implementing policies, conducts screenings, clinical counseling and case management services, and prevention programming.
- Serve as a point of contact for behavioral health services for active‑duty Special Operations personnel, retired military members, their families, and others as authorized by DoD policy.
- Provide a spectrum of behavioral health interventions, including interviewing, behavioral assessment, and evidence‑based therapies in the evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of psychological and neuropsychological disorders using the following skills: individual, family and group psychotherapy, couples therapy, alcohol, and drug treatment evaluations.
- Plan, develop and implement programs designed to foster positive healthy relationships within the family structure and unit connectedness.
- Promote and maintain communication and harmonious working relationships within the unit, POTFF program, and other DoD and outside agencies.
- Master’s Degree in one of the behavioral sciences and able to meet Credentialing and Privileging standards.
- LMFT Requirements must include one of the following:
- Master's or doctoral degree in marriage and family therapy from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education (COAMFTE), or
- A qualifying graduate degree in an allied mental‑health field from a regionally accredited education institution in conjunction with a program of marriage and family therapy study that is equivalent to the COAMFTE standards as defined by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT); must possess a clinical membership credential issued by the AAMFT.
- LPC Requirements:
- Passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination (NCMHCE) or an examination determined by the Director, Defense Health Agency or designee as equal in scope, intent, and content to the NCMHCE.
- Master’s or higher‑level degree from a mental health counseling program of education and training accredited for Mental Health Counseling or Clinical Mental Health Counseling by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs; and
- Post‑master’s degree counseling practice qualifying for independent licensure. Two years of post‑graduate experience in various modalities and skill to provide individual, group, couples, and family treatment/counseling.
- Must have a current state license to practice independently as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret or Top‑Secret Clearance.
- Shall have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) as required for credentialing at servicing medical treatment facilities.
- Must comply with Safety, Health and Environmental plan, policies and procedures.
- Must comply with the Quality Assurance plan, policies and procedures.
- Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance.
- Responsible for completing all required training.
- Perform other assignments and duties, as required.
