Rivet Operations Company (“Rivet”) is seeking an experienced Tactical Data Link (TDL) Analyst with extensive operational and technical expertise supporting United States Air Force (USAF) Tactical Data Link interoperability and standards development. Rivet is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in physical security, operating in tactical environments, process improvement and development, as well as configuration management by developing and engineering.

The TDL Analyst will provide hands‑on experience participating in USAF, Joint, Bilateral, and Allied standards forums, drafting interface change proposals, and evaluating interoperability test results to strengthen operational effectiveness and mission execution.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Research, engineer, and propose changes to Tactical Data Link (TDL) Military Standards (MIL-STDs) based on USAF tactical combat system Information Exchange Requirements (IERs), minimizing impact on existing and fielded systems.
  • Develop and evaluate bit‑level implementation specifications and advise software developers and testers on TDL standards implementation.
  • Initiate, draft, and submit TDL interface change proposals formate.
  • Prepare for and attend meetings as directed by the Government.
  • Analyze proposed TDL changes from U.S. and Allied organizations for impact on USAF systems, joint and coalition interoperability, and operational employment; produce written technical evaluations.
  • Research U.S. and Allied technical documentation to identify discrepancies and develop change proposals for TDL configuration items, including applicable MIL-STDs, NATO STANAGs, ATDLPs, ADatPs, and APPs.
  • Assess interoperability test trouble reports to determine affected systems and deficiency criticality.
  • Evaluate test results against applicable MIL‑STD requirements and create Interface Change Proposals to address standards shortfalls identified through test and evaluation activities.
  • Review newly drafted and revised MIL‑STDs to identify incorporation errors and provide corrective recommendations for bit‑level formats, technical verbiage, and notation.
  • Draft Technical Information Design Plan - Test Edition (TIDP‑TE) documents for new Tactical Data Link capabilities to support future MIL‑STDs and Allied standards development.
  • Review Information Support Plans (ISPs) posted to the JASM website to verify correct MIL‑STD references and coordinate with USAF requirements and program offices to support TDL integration into USAF platforms and systems.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) and technical working groups supporting operational concepts, architectures, and interoperability solutions.
  • Research and develop background papers, staff studies, talking papers, and presentation materials in support of government leadership and mission objectives.
Job Requirements
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience supporting Tactical Data Link (TDL) standards development, analysis, or operational employment.
  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Military Science, or a related discipline.
  • Rated USAF operational experience as a Fighter Pilot, Electronic Warfare Officer (EWO), or Weapon Systems Officer (WSO).
  • Demonstrated ability to read, analyze, and extract relevant information from highly detailed and complex technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of USAF, Joint, and Allied Tactical Data Link standards and operational interoperability concepts.
  • Experience participating in Joint, Bilateral, and Allied TDL standards meetings or working groups.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to operational and technical accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for producing technical evaluations and coordinating with technical and operational stakeholders.
