We are GDIT. General Dynamics Information Technology is seeking a Systems Engineer Expert for our Air Force customer in Hampton, VA. Responsibilities- Analyzes customer requirements and solves unusually complex problems with highly innovative solutions
- Provides expert knowledge for maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, remote access systems, and telecom equipment
- Provides expert knowledge for maintaining network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintaining system backup and recovery capability
- Analyzes, evaluates and plans method of approach and organizes means to achieve solution of complex technical problems
- Develops advanced engineering ideas and guides their development into a final product
- Develops advanced solutions to a variety of highly complex engineering problems
- Perform highly advanced network/systems design, development, and integration from the start of a project life cycle to the end
- Provides and applies advanced engineering to highly complex infrastructures including installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining network devices, telecom equipment, radio equipment, operating systems, application software, and system management tools
- Provides and applies advanced engineering skills to highly complex systems modeling, simulation, and analysis
- Performs continual maintenance and provides advanced solutions for security, backup, and redundancy problems
- Prepares and maintains documentation for processes and procedures related to engineering projects
- Maintains current knowledge of rapidly changing technology,
always on the lookout for new technologies, and works with management to evolve current processes - Invents innovative ways to drive production operational efficiency
- Coordinates the acquisition of hardware and software as well as subcontractor services as needed
- Creates plans and configures systems for data communication networks
- Designs and builds hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks
- Evaluates new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network
- Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned
- Consults with executives and customers to deliver complex network solutions
- Will coach and provide guidance to less‑experienced professionals
- Will serve as a team or task lead
- Recognized as an industry leader in network engineering
- Coordinates with project managers and engineers to oversee that the engineering tasks and team are on track
- Communicates regularly with leadership team
- Active secret clearance
- History of working in a Cisco environment
- Master’s Degree and 15+ years of experience or 17 years of experience in lieu of degree
- Must meet the certification requirement of DoD Directive 8140.01 and 8570.01‑M
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) or higher – (Highly Preferred)
- Work is onsite in Hampton, Virginia
