Internship Program Overview

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.

- 4:30 p.m.

Program Duration:
June 1, 2026 - August 7, 2026

Rate of Pay:

Undergraduate students - Grade 307 ($16.48/hr)

Graduate students - Grade 316 ($20.89/ hr)

FLSA:
Internships are seasonal and non-exempt positions. Summer interns will be scheduled to work up to forty (40) hours in an administrative work week and are ineligible for overtime compensation.

As an Economic Empowerment Intern, you will:

* Partner with the Bloomberg Harvard Fellow on data-driven initiatives, including supporting the development of a Child Care Task Force.

* Research and identify best practices to expand child care access, affordability, and quality.

* Assist clients with workforce development, skills training, financial education, and life supports.

* Participate in community engagement and tabling events to connect residents with resources.

* Contribute to policy research, drafting, and grant research efforts.

* Utilize and evaluate AI tools to enhance service delivery and administrative efficiency

You'll gain experience in:

* Hands-on experience in economic mobility programming and public administration.

* Exposure to policy development and grant strategy.

* Direct client engagement and workforce development experience.

* Experience applying AI in public-facing human services, including presenting lessons learned on ethical and practical use.

* Professional mentorship and real-world impact within a municipal setting.

Department Final Project:
Interns will work on a department-specific project designed to improve or enhance a City service. This project will be presented at a culminating ceremony attended by City leaders, highlighting the intern's contributions and insights gained throughout the program.

* Applicants must be one of the following:

* Recent Graduate:

Completed a degree in Business Administration, Human/Social Services, Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.

* Current Graduate Student:

Completed at least one graduate-level semester in Business Administration, Human/Social Services, Psychology, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.

* College Transcripts:
Must submit undergraduate and/or graduate transcripts as applicable. Current or most recent GPA must be 3.0 or higher.

* Cover Letter:
Applicants must submit a cover letter expressing how their education and experience align with this internship and what they hope to gain from the experience. The cover letter is required as a supplement to this application, and should be in Microsoft Word format, not exceeding one page.

* References:
Two (2) references - one of which must be from a current or former professor/advisor are required as part of this application.
