Job Title: Asphalt Roller Operator - Hampton Roads

Department: Paving

Reports to: Paving Foreman

• Operate a self-propelled Roller with steel drums or solid rubber wheels for compacting hot mix asphalt.

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures, using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Ride on the platform of the machine and use the lever, pedals, or throttle to control and guide the machine.
• Perform daily equipment checks (e.g., hydraulic fluid level, greasing, oil levels).
• Use hand tools such as hand shovel, wrench, and screwdriver.
• Perform any other duties deemed necessary or assigned.

• High School Diploma preferred.

• Previous heavy highway construction experience preferred.
• Knowledge of compacting procedures for different asphalt mixes.

• Job requires motions such as stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, and squatting.
• Walking or standing may occupy the entire day.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Exposed to extremes of heat or cold weather.
• Overtime work is required.
• Valid Driver's License with transportation to and from job sites.
