Field Operations Trainee (DOD Skill Bridge Program Only)
We are seeking a hard‑working Field Operations Trainee who is eager to learn about the heavy civil construction industry. This developmental role supports the Crew Leader in managing a crew, conducting morning safety huddles, and effectively communicating with team members, preparing the trainee for a Field Manager position within 1‑2 years.
Program EligibilityThis posting is available only for transitioning Active‑Duty military service members participating under the DOD Skill Bridge Program.
Responsibilities- Ensure laborers report for work on time and in compliance with all policies.
- Procure all necessary materials and equipment.
- Maintain a safe work environment for all employees.
- Assign tasks to employees on the job site.
- Monitor laborers' production and provide documentation for promotions.
- Maintain materials usage documentation.
- Provide initial training for new hires and ongoing training for all team members.
- Maintain “Image of Excellence” housekeeping and document safety status and machinery fitness.
- Communicate with the Equipment Shop on maintenance and repair via email.
- Lead team safety meetings and report incidents to the Superintendent and HSE Team.
- Forward members’ concerns to Human Resources and work with the Superintendent on disciplinary measures.

Qualifications- 3‑5 years of experience managing a team of employees with strong leadership skills.
- Experience in heavy/civil construction preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of heavy equipment, hand‑held equipment, and commercial construction preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of safety practices within a construction environment preferred, but not required.
- Known for taking action, building consensus, being influential, and making purposeful decisions.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Ability to frequently lift heavy objects over 60 lbs.
