Laborer - Asphalt Milling - Hampton Roads

Department: Paving

Reports to: Paving Foreman

• Performs various unskilled tasks that are associated with heavy highway asphalt milling construction operations

• Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all federal, state, local and company safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
• Receive daily instruction from the project foreman and/or superintendent.
• Shoveling, raking, and spreading of stone, asphalt millings and debris
• Back filling, tamping, and leveling of stone and paving material
• Maintain the cleanliness of the jobsite and all designated paving and milling areas as required
• Assist other asphalt milling and paving crew members as needed
• Perform all other duties deemed necessary or assigned

• High School Diploma preferred

• Previous heavy highway milling / paving construction experience preferred

• Job requires motions: stretching, bending, lifting, pushing, pulling, twisting, throwing, walking, standing, reaching, squatting
• Walking or standing may occupy the entire day
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs
• Potential exposure to extremes of hot or cold weather
• Overtime work is required
• Valid Driver’s License with transportation to and from job sites
