POSITION SUMMARY

The LPG Transport Driver operates a variety of makes, models, and sizes of tractor/tank truck combinations and associated mechanical devices to transport, load, and unload products, materials, and equipment. Responsibilities include truck safety inspections, verification of product load, and preparation of operational and DOT forms and records.

JOB FUNCTIONS AND

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Perform truck safety inspections, verification of product load, and preparation of operational and DOT forms and records.
  • Use an ELD for daily logging and dispatch.
  • Operate tractor/tank truck combinations and related mechanical devices for transportation, loading, and unloading.
  • Carry out scheduled deliveries by routing as specified by dispatch.
  • Adhere to all company and DOT safety policies and procedures.
  • Load/unload transports with mechanical assistance, following approved procedures.
  • Determine, by personal inspection, that vehicles are in safe operating condition before departure.
  • Work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays; be willing to work up to DOT maximum hours and may be assigned to other locations short‑term.
  • Remain overnight in transport for up to five nights per week as required by the schedule.
  • Assist with training new drivers and retraining returning drivers (Level
    1).
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Valid, current Class A commercial driver’s license with Hazardous Materials and Tank endorsements.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of Over the Road (OTR) or regional driving experience.
  • Excellent driving/safety record.
  • Meet all requirements for drivers as set forth in Part 391 – Qualification of Drivers of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to work with limited supervision and respond to emergency situations appropriately.
  • Knowledge and experience with preventive maintenance procedures necessary for routine DOT inspections of tractors and trailers.
  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations and Hazardous Material Shipping and Documentation regulations.
  • Ability to handle materials safely while driving, loading, and unloading.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills for effective interaction with customers and employees.
  • Regular and reliable attendance.
  • Physical ability to operate a tractor/trailer and associated equipment.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform rigorous outdoor and indoor duties: walking, standing, climbing, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, sitting, lifting, grasping, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
  • Can lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds to waist height.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Self‑directed work team communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience driving chemical and/or fuel tank trailers.
  • Prior driving and/or operational experience with LPG products.
  • TWIC Card and LPG certification with Texas Railroad Commission.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Physical and mental ability to operate a tractor/trailer and associated equipment.
  • Rigorous outdoor and indoor duties: walking, standing, climbing, stooping, squatting, bending, twisting, kneeling, reaching, sitting, lifting, grasping, pushing, pulling, and manual dexterity.
  • Lift, push, and pull at least 50 pounds.
  • Work in changing climate conditions.
