Sales Associate (No. 1638) – Hammond, LA. Retail position reporting to Store Manager. Hourly salary: $9.00.
OverviewThe Sales Associate is responsible for providing quality customer service and driving product sales. The Associate is knowledgeable in each product area or department, upholds policies, procedures and standards, promotes sales and promotions, and serves as an ambassador of the organization and brand, creating a unique customer experience to acquire and retain long‑time customers. Passion for outstanding customer service and promoting merchandise in stores is essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Produce and deliver extraordinary customer service as outlined in the customer service manual, including assisting customers as they enter the store and handling multiple customers during peak periods.
- Promote and sell services and merchandise provided by the organization.
- Consistently set goals to grow and improve selling skills and track overall sales.
- Practice and uphold all company policies, procedures and standards as listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual and memos.
- Assist in daily store operations, including completing work lists, clean‑up lists, weekly shipments and store maintenance.
- Utilize presenting merchandise to promote and sell goods, following guidance in the product knowledge manual.
- Consistently achieve and/or exceed sales targets and goals.
- Identify and communicate merchandise needs, pricing concerns and operational problems to store management staff.
- Attend all staff meetings and technical clinics for the store.
- Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management of potential fraud risk.
- 0–2 years of customer service experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
- Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously with precision.
- Team‑player who is passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.
