General Description
The essential function of the position within the organization is to coordinate with the chief operator in the daily operations of maintaining the plant and the equipment.
Primary DutiesThis list represents the essential tasks performed by the position. Employees may be assigned additional duties by management as required.
- Assumes the duties of the chief operator in his/her absence; delegates assigned tasks to subordinates.
- Maintains plant operation records and operators’ reports.
- Supervises and schedules equipment repairs and directs preventive maintenance program for plants.
- Schedules instrument repairs.
- Maintains all logging, calibration and discharge monitoring reports as required by LADEQ.
- Assists laboratory manager in analysis of samples required by LADEQ permit.
- Conducts lab duties in laboratory manager's absence; sets up sampler and collects samples; coordinates with laboratory manager to ensure compliance with permits.
- Maintains records of sample collection and analysis including DO, PH, and temperature daily recordings.
- Collects and analyzes stormwater samples.

Education and Experience Requirements Education RequirementsRequires specialized courses/training equivalent to satisfactory completion of two years of college in water and wastewater operations or management or closely related field.
Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations RequiredRequires a Class IV Wastewater, Class III Water certification, and a Commercial Driver’s License valid in the state of Louisiana.
Experience RequirementsRequires ten years in water plant operations or closely related experience.
Americans with Disabilities Requirements Physical DemandsPerforms medium to heavy work that involves walking, standing, stooping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 to 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
Unavoidable HazardsInvolves routine and frequent exposure to toxic/caustic chemicals;
Vibration;
Fumes and/or noxious odors;
Traffic;
Moving machinery.
