Pack and deliver meals, provide well-check, and interact compassionately with clients on assigned route. Maintain vehicle’s cleanliness; maintain vehicle in ready-to-use condition. Provide vehicle and building maintenance, kitchen duties as directed.

Responsibilities

Pack and deliver meals.

  • Prepare vehicle to maintain meal’s freshness and temperature.
  • Pack meals efficiently, conscious of food safety and specifics of route.
  • Deliver meals according to daily route sheet.
  • Report any client’s failure to receive a meal as scheduled to Client Services Manager and/or office staff. Use good judgment and reasoning to provide a wellness check. Place “undeliverable” tag on door. Call 911 when appropriate.
  • Interact with clients with care and compassion, while staying aware of the need to deliver all meals within an established timeframe.
  • Communicate any client concerns regarding meals and delivery to supervisor and Client Services Manager. Complete and file route sheet in file cabinet.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance as required by the State of Indiana.

Prepare for the following day.

  • Remove food and discard or return non-perishables to kitchen.
  • Return and clean all empty containers to proper location.
  • Return and charge assigned cell phone, daily.
  • Report any mechanical issues to supervisor.
  • Maintain vehicle cleanliness and store vehicle in its assigned place.
  • Ensure the outside vehicle is locked and keys are returned to the appropriate location.

Complete any other activity required to expedite the meals.

  • Special assignments based on the agency’s need and driver’s skills will be made on an as needed basis.

All other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Able to interact well with clients and deliver meals in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Possess good reasoning and trouble-shooting skills.
  • Compassionate about the well-being of others.
  • Math skills sufficient to accurately count items.
  • Able to work independently and with a team.
  • Able to complete required paperwork and utilize a cellular phone.
  • Hold a valid Driver’s License free from moving violations.
Physical demands and working conditions
  • Standing, walking as well as sitting while driving during the shift.
  • Medium Work: exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and up to 30 pounds of force frequently.
  • Physical activity includes stooping, ascending, and descending stairs, reaching, lifting, grasping, pushing, and pulling required while packing and delivering.
  • Must have visual acuity to operate a vehicle and determine thoroughness of work assigned.
  • Both inside and outside environmental conditions exist.
  • Reliable, consistent punctuality and physical attendance are required.
