About the SchoolBishop Noll Institute is a Roman Catholic, college preparatory high school sponsored by the Diocese of Gary, Indiana. It is a comprehensive co‑educational institution with a college preparatory curriculum (Core 40 or Core 40 with Academic Honors).
Reporting ToPrincipal and Assistant Principal
Qualifications- Master’s degree in School Counseling
- Valid Indiana Professional Educator’s License in School Services (or willingness to pursue certification in Indiana)
- Completion of a required criminal background check and drug screening
- Training in VIRTUS or an equivalent safe environment program
- Exempt staff position; partial summer coverage expected
- Oversee student service staff and design comprehensive mental wellness program for the school
- Provide a safe, non‑judgmental environment for students to voice personal concerns and worries
- Manage a designated student caseload based on alphabet split or grade‑level needs
- Utilize excellent communication and organization skills to manage counseling projects, deadlines, and activities throughout the school year
- Stay informed of Indiana diploma requirements for the Core 40/Core 40 with Academic Honors curriculum
- Attend at least one annual professional development workshop or seminar to bring current academic or psychosocial topics to the counseling team
- Develop positive one‑on‑one relationships with students, learning their names, college goals, career objectives, and advocacy needs
- Help students develop academic plans in line with their skills, talents, and strengths for course scheduling
- Work closely with seniors to send college transcript requests electronically via Naviance
- Maintain confidentiality of students with diagnosed or confidential psychosocial issues and documentation
- Facilitate crisis intervention, prevention programs, and support groups as needed
- Communicate with teachers, parents, and administrators about behavioral and academic concerns
- Implement student and parent presentations or training sessions on educational resources by grade level
- Attend administrative meetings as part of the administrative team
- Assist school administrators and educators in planning school‑related programs and events
- Collaborate with Learning Specialist, School Nurse, and other supportive staff on special and health needs of students
- Analyze student performance to provide guidance and identify potential problems
- Offer a “College Financial Aid Night” for junior and senior families, providing scholarship resources and FAFSA information
- Collaborate with administration on scheduling and courses offered through the student database system
- Assist the Director of Enrollment Management with course scheduling for incoming freshmen and transfer students
- Participate in and help with the annual college fair
- Administer student testing (PSAT, ISTEP, ECA, AP) in collaboration with the Assistant Principal
