Long-term Sub School Security Officer

Position Summary:

Ross Local School District is seeking a dependable and student-centered Long-Term School Security Officer to support the safety and security of our school community. This individual will work collaboratively with administrators, staff, students, and families to maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Monitor school buildings, grounds, and entrances during the school day

* Support student supervision during arrival, dismissal, lunch periods, and transitions

* Enforce school safety procedures, visitor protocols, and district policies

* Assist administrators with incident response and documentation as needed

* De-escalate conflicts using calm, professional communication

* Build positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries

* Collaborate with local law enforcement and emergency personnel when necessary

Qualifications:

* High school diploma or equivalent required

* Must have served as a law enforcement officer for at least 10 years (or met specific criteria for early separation).

* Separated from service in good standing.

* Meet ongoing firearms proficiency/training standards.

* Must not be prohibited from possessing firearms under federal law.

* Ability to remain calm and professional in high-stress situations

* Strong communication and interpersonal skills

* Ability to work effectively with students of all ages

* Successful completion of background checks and required clearances

Work Schedule:

* Full-time (no weekends or holidays)

* January 2026 through May 2026, at a minimum

Compensation:

* $24.17/hour
