As the Flight Data Pipeline Technical Product Manager, you are responsible for working in lock‑step with product management teams to create a clear strategic direction for development needs and convey that vision to the build and/or operations team. You will lead the definition and build of the next generation of flight data architecture.
Responsibilities- Define the vision, strategy, and roadmap for data products and solutions.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into product requirements.
- Prioritize features and initiatives based on business value, technical feasibility, and resource availability.
- Act as the liaison between technical teams (e.g., data engineers, data scientists) and business stakeholders.
- Facilitate communication to ensure alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables.
- Partner with software development teams to integrate data solutions into broader systems.
- Understand data architecture, cloud platforms, and data technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, Dynamo, Spark, AWS services).
- Provide input on technical decisions and ensure scalability, security, and performance of data products.
- Lead the product development lifecycle, including ideation, design, development, testing, and deployment.
- Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success.
- Manage product backlog and ensure timely delivery of features.
- Gather feedback from users to continuously improve data products.
- Ensure data solutions address customer pain points and deliver value.
- Demonstrate superior product and industry knowledge and help organization gain the competitive edge.
- Interact with customers/stakeholders for VOC requirements gathering, fine‑tuning, and obtaining product feedback.
- Work with cross‑functional teams to deliver major, complex products.
- Own the release and sprint backlogs, short‑term roadmap for MVPs and quarterly releases.
- Continuously order and prioritize backlog to keep 1–2 sprints/iterations ready.
- Prioritize continuously based on validation of customer problems and needs.
- Engage frequently (50 % of the time) with the development team; facilitate discussions, provide clarification, story acceptance and refinement, testing and validation.
- Translate unstructured or ambiguous work requests into actionable user stories and work units.
- Partner with Development Leadership to ensure healthy development process.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Provide technical leadership to TPMs across the organization; coach others in Agile methodology.
- Education:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college with a minimum of 5 years of professional experience; or Associate’s degree with a minimum of 8 years; or High School Diploma with a minimum of 10 years. - Minimum 5 years of professional experience in IT technical product management.
- Military experience is considered equivalent to professional experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States; no visa sponsorship.
- Strong knowledge of data analysis and data engineering plus technical product management skills.
- Experience working in an Agile environment.
- Familiarity with versatile implementation options.
- Business acumen: initiative to explore alternate technology, breaking down problems, documenting problem statements, estimating efforts, analyzing technology choices, negotiating to align stakeholders, understanding competitive environment, and market technology knowledge.
- Leadership: influence others, build support for ideas, articulate decisions, reflect on performance, understand when change is needed, participate in technical strategy planning.
