Position Summary
Responsible for all check‑in and check‑out functions of the medical front desk on a rotating basis, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and managing medical records.
Responsibilities & Standards General Responsibilities- Attend department, clinic, or company meetings as required.
- Demonstrate sound judgment by taking appropriate actions regarding questionable findings or concerns.
- Work positively and cooperatively with fellow staff members.
- Respond flexibly to changing situations to meet current needs, including reprioritizing work as necessary.
- Demonstrate knowledge of all company policies and procedures; adhere to safety requirements. Identify unsafe situations and notify the supervisor.
- Meet and greet patients promptly in a professional and courteous manner.
- Obtain patient information during office hours.
- Provide patients with required paperwork – H&P, Financial Policy, Patient Information Sheet.
- Obtain copies of patients' insurance cards and MCO identification cards.
- Verify patient insurance coverage is current and correct at each visit.
- Review patient label and chart contents for completeness and accuracy.
- Accurately scan insurance cards (front and back).
- Input patient information and register patients as needed.
- Schedule appointments (new, follow‑up, reschedule) per physician protocol.
- Obtain referrals – check carriers online.
- Schedule appointments with other specialists as needed.
- Collect co‑pays, co‑insurance, and self‑pay amounts at the time of service.
- Handle all calls professionally and direct them to the proper individual.
- Run schedules.
- Communicate with physicians and clinical support staff.
- All messages must be addressed before the end of the day.
- All patient information will be entered into the system by the end of the day.
- Accommodate patients according to physician protocol when scheduling appointments.
- Travel to other Beacon locations as necessary.
- Confirm and/or reschedule appointments when needed.
- File documents as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the manager.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Friendliness, courtesy, and strong communication skills when greeting patients.
- Ability to multitask in a fast‑paced environment.
- Previous experience in a busy clinic or physician office is preferred.
Frequent hearing and verbal communication, reading, writing, visual acuity up close and at a distance, standing, sitting, walking, reaching, handling objects, climbing, pulling, pushing, kneeling. Maximum unassisted lift: 25 lbs.
