SUMMARY: The Mental Health Therapist provides therapeutic services to individuals, families, and children in clinical or school settings. The role involves conducting comprehensive assessments, developing personalized treatment plans, and delivering ongoing therapy to address emotional, behavioral, and mental health challenges. The therapist works collaboratively with clients, families, school staff, and interdisciplinary teams to promote mental health, emotional well‑being, and academic success.

Clinical Duties:

• Provide individual therapy services to children, adolescents, and adults in clinical or school‑based environments.
• Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments to identify needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
• Deliver ongoing therapeutic support to clients and students to manage mental health challenges and achieve personal and academic goals.
• Provide crisis intervention and emotional support during acute needs, in both clinical and school settings.
• Develop and implement integrated wellness plans that address mental health and life skills development.
• Collaborate with school staff, parents, agency staff, and community service providers to coordinate care and promote overall well‑being.
• Consult with teachers and school administrators to address behavioral and emotional challenges in the classroom.
• Participate in school wellness initiatives, promoting mental health education and emotional resilience.

Administrative Duties:

• Maintain complete, accurate, and timely medical records, documenting assessments, intervention plans, patient progress, and telephone message summaries.
• Ensure progress notes and special patient forms are completed after each encounter, adhering to organizational standards and HIPAA regulations.
• Communicate with patients, student parents, referring physicians, and other care providers to coordinate treatment and ensure continuity of care.
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives, team meetings, case reviews, and committee activities to support integrated care efforts and improve service quality.
• Help develop and refine programs aimed at addressing behavioral health needs and maintain commitment to patient safety.

Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Social Work or Clinical Mental Health Counseling, graduate from an approved program. Two years of experience working with indigent populations and community‑based programs is preferred.

Licensing: Must hold a valid Ohio license as a LSW, LISW, LPC, or LPCC.

Language

Skills:

Ability to read, interpret, and write routine reports and correspondence. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.

Computer

Skills:

Proficiency with electronic medical record systems, Microsoft Word, and internet/intranet tools.

Regular standing, walking, hand use, reaching, and talking or hearing. Occasional kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Lift or move up to 25 pounds. Vision required: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception.

Moderate noise level, occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. Work environment may occasionally expose employees to fumes or chemicals. Reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
