Position
High School Engineering Instructor
General DescriptionWe are seeking a dynamic instructor to work with high school students enrolled in rigorous engineering elective courses. Students participate in Technology Student Association (TSA). Courses taught by this position include:
- Engineering Principles – Introduces fundamental engineering concepts such as mechanisms, energy, statics, materials, and kinematics. Students will learn to apply problem solving, research, and design skills to create solutions to engineering challenges.
- Engineering Design – Topics include work processes, optimization methods, design optimization, and risk management tools. Using 2D and 3D modeling software, students will design solutions to solve problems, document their work, and communicate solutions.
- Introduction to Engineering – A pre-engineering course for 9th and 10th grade students in which they acquire knowledge and skills in problem solving, teamwork and innovation as they explore STEM careers and participate in project‑based learning projects related to modeling, automation, robotics, mechanical and computer control systems, energy, and the environment.
- Must meet ONE OF THE FOLLOWING
:- High school diploma AND at least 5 years of relevant work experience in engineering, manufacturing, or related fields AND willingness & ability to complete Ohio's alternative teacher licensure process.
- Current Ohio State Board of Education licensure to serve grades 10-12 in an area related to Math, Science, Engineering, or Manufacturing.
- Strong technical expertise in engineering tools and software (e.g., CAD, robotics programming).
- A commitment to fostering a culture of high achievement, innovation, and collaboration.
- Willingness/ability to work with students, teachers and administrators as a team member.
- Computer expertise appropriate to the position.
- Effective and demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, analytical, oral and written communication, and organizational skills.
- State‑issued identification card with photograph.
- History of strong work record, including good job attendance.
- Documented evidence of acceptable criminal record as required by Ohio law and Board Policy.
