POSITION TITLE

PRIMARY FUNCTION

We are searching for a confident, experienced substitute teacher to join our team. We're interested in you if you are a friendly and competent professional interested in education. Your duties will include assigning homework, managing classroom activities, and compiling reports.

To excel in this role, you should have in-depth knowledge of effective teaching practices that ensure learning is a comfortable and meaningful experience. Our ideal candidate has excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, with a strong command of the English language.

QUALIFICATIONS

Licensure:
Current valid Substitute Educator License with Stipulations.

Education:

Required – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in any field.

Experience:

Preferred – Two (2) years of prior successful substitute teaching experience working with a diverse student population in an urban school setting.

ESSENTIAL PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Adhering to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher.
  • Following procedures and achieving lesson goals.
  • Assigning and explaining homework.
  • Overseeing students outside of the classroom, including in the hallways and cafeteria.
  • Complying with all school regulations and policies at all times.
  • Taking attendance and documenting daily notes.

    Ensuring the classroom and work stations are kept clean and orderly.
  • Overseeing the normal classroom rhythms and activities.
  • Compiling a report for the teacher for when they return.
  • Diapering may be required.
  • Other duties as assigned by the school and district administration.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

As needed or based on substitute teacher’s availability.

SALARY RANGE
  • Professional Educator License (PEL) – $180.00/day
  • Day to Day Subs to the District – $195.00/day
  • $251/day (defined as a person requested to serve for 2 weeks or longer in one classroom)
