Overview
South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Social Work Assistant to join the central Care at Home team. The post supports statutory obligations, timely assessment and review of service users, liaising with external providers, service users, families and professionals involved with the service. The service promotes wellbeing, dignity, privacy, respect and personal choices. The Care at Home service operates with the Health and Social Care Partnership, serving over 3,000 service users each day.
This is a permanent, full-time role (35 hours per week) located at Council Headquarters, Hamilton. Salary: £36,425 – £37,465 per annum. Closing date for applications: 1 February 2026 at 11:55.
- Ensure the Council meets statutory obligations and timely assessment and review of service users to mitigate risks and meet health and wellbeing needs.
- Liaise with external providers, service users, families and professionals involved with the service.
- Contribute to the transformation programme within the Care at Home service.
- Monitor and contribute to ensuring services meet national Health and Social Care standards.
- Assist with answering application questions as part of submission (to be uploaded under supporting documents).
- Provide examples of your work or activities demonstrating ability to undertake duties.
- Provide two examples of when you used your communication and interpersonal skills to achieve success.
- Describe how you would ensure Care at Home services meet national Health and Social Care standards.
- Describe how you would ascertain and manage client expectations while delivering excellent customer service.
- Describe how you would contribute to quality assurance of the service.

This post is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and is regulated work with adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
