Position: COMM ENT 3446 G3 - Team Leader (Environmental Services) (600522)

Overview

South Lanarkshire Council (Planning & Regulatory Services; Environmental Services) are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, self-motivated Team Leader who can accept and tackle demanding goals to ensure effective service delivery. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and driving forward specialist areas of work or projects, undertaking background research, data collection and analysis for the implementation of complex, sensitive or specialist Environmental Services functions and service performance.

In addition, you will allocate work in accordance with the service plan, taking into account the effective use of resources, supervising officers to ensure that work is progressed and service plan targets are achieved. This position is based in the Environmental Crime Team (covering Enforcement of Fly Tipping, Littering, Dog Fouling and delivery of the Stray Dog Service). This Team has recently been successful in attracting additional members of Enforcement Staff and is going through a period of expansion and enhanced enforcement in specific areas (notably Fly Tipping Enforcement).

This is a permanent post and you could be asked to fulfil roles undertaken by Environmental Health Officer’s (EHO’s) and Team Leader level positions within the Service.

. Hours: 35 per week. Work pattern: Monday – Thursday 8:45am – 4:45pm and Friday 8:45am – 4:15pm. Salary: £50,622 – £51,370 annual salary.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for developing and driving forward specialist areas of work or projects within Environmental Services.
  • Undertake background research, data collection and analysis for the implementation of complex or specialist Environmental Services functions and service performance.
  • Allocate work in accordance with the service plan and supervise officers to ensure work is progressed and service plan targets are achieved.
  • Support the Environmental Crime Team, including Enforcement of Fly Tipping, Littering, Dog Fouling and delivery of the Stray Dog Service.
  • Be prepared to work within an expanding enforcement context and potentially undertake roles at Environmental Health Officer (EHO) level.
