We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Specialist, Safety & Compliance to support our Kim-Tam Logistics transportation operations across multiple sites in Ontario. This role plays a critical part in maintaining regulatory compliance, promoting a strong safety culture, and supporting our fleet and drivers across Canada and the United States. This position will report into the Manager, Operations, Health & Safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Safety Programs & Driver Engagement
Plan and coordinate annual safety meetings for all truck drivers across multiple sites in OntarioOrganize and execute Monthly Safety Talks for all drivers on fleetCreate report cards for Safety Town Halls each monthCritical events monitoring (i.e. dashcam)Manage drug and alcohol programOnboarding new drivers by completing safety & compliance orientationTrain drivers on and monitor third-party carrier compliance with internal and external customersCarrier’s Edge Super UserRegulatory Compliance & Government Relations
Own the process for all licensing requirements in Ontario for the fleet (ex. on the spot, hiring, renewals), which includes regular travel to MTO offices to complete requirementsTravel regularly to meet with government agencies, and MTO OfficersQuarterly review of driver’s license compliance and medical expiryEnsure compliance with relevant transportation regulations in Canada and the United States such as Highway Traffic Act, FMCSA, NSC-10Assist in obtaining special spot or temporary permits from various agencies in Canada and the USA to support operations (ex. Oversized plate permits)Become a member of at least one locations Joint Health and Safety CommitteeAudits, Monitoring & Reporting
Travel between Kim-Tam, MTO, and customer locations to complete random safety audits of our company drivers and independent contractorsFollow up on MTO inspections of trucksProduce monthly CVOR violation rates and submit it to the Health, Safety & Compliance ManagerProduce monthly departmental reports (ex. HOS violations, unassigned driving, speed gauge)Track vehicle defects, incidents, accidents and traffic violations in Truck Mate and Internal Reporting SystemMaintain compliance in Truckmate system for all safety & compliance measurables and track measurables within Synergize system and physical files (includes audit data)Incident & Claims Management
Assist with investigation of incidents/accident to help determine root cause, fault, no-faultCommunicate with insurance provider regarding claimsIn case of workplace injury, process WSIB forms, monitor and liaise between WSIB and driver. Facilitate the return-to-work processFleet & Maintenance Administration

Post secondary education required3-5+ years of experience in the trucking or transportation industry in a safety and compliance role or similar responsibilitiesMust have full-time access to a vehicle and valid G driver’s licenseIntermediate understanding of MTO, NSC, HTA, MOL, CLC and FMCSA regulationsElectronic Logging Device (ELD) experience requiredStrong verbal and written communication skillsProactive and solution-focused – a go-getter!Strong organizational skills and ability to balance competing prioritiesKnowledge of commercial equipmentStrong conflict-resolution skillsThe expected compensation range for this position is $63,360-$87,120. This range includes base pay and target variable pay. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, and experience. We also consider internal equity to ensure fair and consistent pay practices. This range reflects the expected full compensation range for the role; most offers will fall within the range and not at the maximum in order to allow for future growth.
