Background — As a member of the Maintenance Group, you will work effectively with others in a team environment, apply problem-solving methodologies, and demonstrate a continuous improvement orientation by seeking new innovative methods of maintaining equipment. Electricians ensure the reliability of our production facilities, including daily preventive maintenance tasks, shift call breakdown response, and shutdown prep/post work.

Responsibilities
  • Receive work orders, instructions, or wiring diagrams. Inspect and test, interpret results, consult wiring diagrams, and determine materials or replacements according to specifications.
  • Plan work procedures, determine tools and material requirements. Locate sources of trouble in electrical equipment or apparatus by tracing and testing circuits and inspecting for mechanical failure.
  • Dismantle, inspect, repair, replace, or adjust faulty parts and wiring on electrical equipment, switches, circuit breakers, transformers, hydraulic and magnetic brakes, panel boards, resistance banks, battery tractors and starters, and electronic equipment.
  • Rewire, insulate, paint, and reassemble equipment, making adjustments to obtain proper operating characteristics.
  • Perform mechanical repairs to equipment, including replacement, repair, and installation of bearings, gears, shafts, pins, etc.
  • Fabricate parts as required using shop tools.
  • Apply thorough knowledge of mechanical and electrical principles and techniques, materials properties, and appropriate trade tools.
  • Create PLC code changes, forces & improvements as required.
Qualifications
  • 442A or 309A Electrician Certificate of Qualification
  • Advanced trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Candidates must be willing and able to work at heights
  • Capable of physically demanding work (indoors and outdoors)
  • Self-starter with the ability to follow directions and work in a team with minimal supervision
  • Advanced computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s license
Hours Of Work
  • 12-hour rotating shift schedule with extended hours during peak workloads; nights and weekends required
  • Shift work for shutdowns and occasional shift relief coverage
  • Willingness to be available for emergency call-in support
  • Possible rotating on-call coverage for trades within the business unit
  • Ready for quick scheduling turnarounds for critical work
Work Environment
  • Heavy industrial environment
  • Use of respirators and standard safety equipment may be required
  • Exposure to noise, heights, confined spaces, lighting conditions, materials, and temperature extremes
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and scaffolding; lift and carry tools and equipment as needed
