Site Overview

In 2020, Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) and St. Joseph's Hospital Hamilton (SJHH) opened the Satellite Health Facility (SHF), a temporary facility in downtown Hamilton to increase local healthcare capacity in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Located at 150 King St.

E. in Effort Square, the space allows HHS and SJHH teams to support patients who are waiting for alternate care arrangements in the community, while reserving in-hospital space for those with the most urgent medical needs. The SHF is staffed by interprofessional clinical teams as well as primary care physicians.

• Averaging Agreement:
  Overtime is Averaging Agreement (AA) after 88 hours

• Provide proactive and reactive security patrols and respond to incidents.
• Display excellent customer service skills and work with people who are under stress or require medical assistance.
• Be physically fit and able to stand and walk for long periods.
• Perform a variety of preventive and reactive duties, including interior and exterior patrols.
• Provide security escort service to staff and visitors as requested.
• Maintain accurate logs and notebook entries of all shift activity and calls for service.
• Write accurate reports upon investigations or reportable occurrences in a timely manner.
• Investigate and follow up on incidents, write reports, handle door opening requests, review CCTV camera footage.
• Warn persons of rule infractions or violations, and apprehend or evict violators from premises, using force when necessary.
• Perform all office duties (e.g., s, key distribution, lost and found).
• Additional duties as assigned.

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, Covid‑Vaccine (two doses), and TB skin test (two steps)
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• At least one year of experience in healthcare security or law enforcement
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
• A clean shaven face to pass an N95 mask fit test
• Ability to walk or climb stairs throughout the premises for longer periods
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants without these certifications may opt into Paladin's UOF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding to ensure they meet the position requirements

The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid; however, Paladin will cover all training costs with a six‑month commitment to the position/availability.
