Dietary Aide – Part Time – Casual – Trillium Court (Kincardine, ON)

Position Overview

As a valued member of Extendicare’s culinary team, you will assist with plating and serving meals, clean serving areas and equipment, and maintain cleanliness and safety standards across the unit. This position is casual with no guaranteed scheduled hours.

Responsibilities

• Serve food to residents according to individual diets and preferences. Observe meal serving time limits and maintain proper serving temperatures.
• Assist cooks with cleaning and preparing uncooked foods such as salads, vegetables, and fruit. Follow basic instructions for preparing breakfast items, desserts, and garnishes.
• Clear plates and trays, load and operate the dishwasher, and clean pots, pans, and utensils per procedure.
• Participate in proper storage and labeling of dietary supplies and food, including leftovers.
• Adhere to departmental policies and procedures regarding quality assurance, fire, safety, environment, and infection control.
• Assemble nourishment carts and stock unit kitchenettes.
• Participate in facility meetings and attend in-service education programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or higher academic certification.
• Degree/Diploma in nutrition or a food service program is an asset.
• Prior experience in institutional, health‑care, restaurant, or hospitality food service environments is an asset.
• Must meet the physical requirements: standing for long periods, moderate to heavy lifting, fast‑paced environment.
• Ability to read and write in English and understand simple verbal and written instructions in English.
• Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures.
• Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, and statutory holidays.
• Must provide a current Vulnerable Sector Check (within three months) or be willing to obtain one.
