Position: Cook, Part time, Permanent

Location: Hamilton, ON

Home: Baywoods Place

Shifts: 6 shifts bi weekly: 4 shifts 7:30am-2:30pm, 2 shifts 5:45am-1:30pm

We are hiring for the Cook role at Southbridge Care Homes. This posting includes responsibilities, qualifications, and accommodations information relevant to applicants.

• Reviewing menus, preparing food following standardized recipes and production sheets.
• In the absence of the Food Services Manager, assist with their responsibilities.
• Monitor quality and quantity of food supplies and recommend corrective action when needed regarding quality.
• Coach Dietary Aides in basic food preparation procedures and serving activities; assume responsibility for routine departmental operations in the absence of the Food Services Manager, including staff replacements and service calls for malfunctioning equipment.
• Maintain all required records and cooperate with other departments to meet resident needs.

• Must meet one of the following qualification scenarios:
  Chef training or culinary management certificate/diploma from a program meeting the Ontario Long Term Care Act requirements; or Certificate of qualification as a Cook issued by an authority meeting those requirements; or Post-secondary diploma/degree in food and nutrition.

• Red Seal Cook Trade Certification preferred.
• Experience in institutional large-quantity cooking preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to provide direction and lead others within a busy environment.
• Must provide a current Safe Food Handling Certificate issued by a recognized authority.
• Must possess or be able to obtain a current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
